Eau de Parfum from Tom Ford Private Blend, launched 2007. Perfumer: Richard Herpin. Unisex. Tom Ford calls it “a groundbreaking composition of oud notes, exotic woods and warm amber,” using “rare oud notes to overwhelm the senses with dark, earthy sensuality.” A peppery, spicy opening flows into a smoky oud-sandalwood-vetiver heart and settles on a smooth amber-tonka-vanilla drydown; Luckyscent describes it as “cool spices and smoky woods, softened with a hint of vanilla and tonka bean,” with oud’s medicinal quality toned down. Luckyscent also notes Tom Ford pioneered oud in Western perfumery with YSL’s M7 in 2002, five years before Oud Wood. Two later SKUs are separate compositions: Oud Wood Intense (2017), which brings in cypress, juniper, ginger and angelica over castoreum and oud, and Oud Wood Parfum (2024, $402 / 100 ml), with cardamom, pink pepper and rosemary over sandalwood, patchouli, oud and vetiver, finishing on vanilla, tonka and amber.
