Eau de Parfum from diptyque (Paris, founded 1961), launched 2021 for the house’s sixtieth anniversary. Perfumer: Olivier Pescheux. Named for Orph?on, the 1960s Saint- Germain bar next to the founders’ original boutique at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain, where the three of them gathered; a faceted blue column in the boutique commemorates it. Unisex. Woody and floral rather than sweet ? juniper gives a dry, faintly gin-like snap up front, jasmine warms the middle without turning lush, and cedar and tonka settle into the powdery-woody drydown the house describes as tobacco smoke and blusher on burnished wood. Low-key and close to the skin.
