Velours Eau de Parfum from Yves Saint Laurent, part of the Le Vestiaire des Parfums collection. Perfumer: Master Perfumer Carlos Bena?m. Unisex. YSL’s descriptor is “Flamboyant Rose ? Patchouli,” a floral chypre. Bena?m built it around a custom rose essence ? fresher and greener than a traditional rose essence, more transparent than an absolute ? from Damascena rose harvested at dawn, grounded by earthy patchouli. In his words: “I saw a rose that I wanted to recreate. In a way that can only be achieved in a perfume, I wanted mine to express the beauty, the feel and the strength of this unique rose.” Velours (“velvet”) refers to Saint Laurent’s use of the fabric, and YSL cites the jet-embroidered bolero of the 1976 “Ballets Russes” collection. The bottle carries the collection’s angled architectural cut and textured black label.
