Tuxedo Eau de Parfum from Yves Saint Laurent, part of the Le Vestiaire des Parfums collection, which launched in 2015 with five fragrances: Tuxedo, Caban, Saharienne, Trench and Caftan. Perfumer: Juliette Karagueuzoglou. Unisex. YSL classifies it as a spicy patchouli amber chypre. YSL’s own line: “Like a shiny satin lapel against a tuxedo’s matte grain de poudre fabric, the bright bite of black pepper and the fresh flash of coriander shed light on the dark material,” with an elegant patchouli heart “sharply cut and tailored to reveal its earthy, smoky, woody power” and ambergris standing in for the nude skin beneath the suit. The name refers to the tuxedo Saint Laurent introduced in his Autumn-Winter 1966 collection, which reimagined the smoking jacket ? menswear evening dress ? for women. A separate, more concentrated version, Tuxedo Extrait de Parfum 66 Patchouli (50 ml, chypre ambery, also by Juliette Karagueuzoglou), sits in YSL’s Les Extraits de Parfum collection and uses a different composition built on patchouli oil macerated with French oak shavings.
