Eau de Parfum from Penhaligon’s, British perfumers established 1870. Launched 2015. Perfumer: Christian Provenzano. Unisex. Inspired by the black roses grown in the village of Halfeti in Turkey; Provenzano says the aim was “to evoke the opulent goods traded in Turkey? I used ingredients that brought darkness and mystery,” building on “Rose absolute from Turkey enhanced by a bracing blend of spices and layered with rich woods, sensual ambers and balsamic undertones.” Penhaligon’s copy: “An intoxicating, mysterious fragrance: vigorous grapefruit, oud accord, Levantine spice and rose tangle in the moonlight. But what’s that upon the riverbank? Could it be the fabled black rose?” Note: this is the original Halfeti Eau de Parfum. Penhaligon’s also sells Halfeti Leather and Halfeti Cedar, both Eau de Parfum, both different fragrances ? check the bottle before quoting these notes.
